In conjunction with Friends of the Waccamaw Library, My Sister’s Books will host a READ-A-THON on Saturday, October 4. An entire book will be read ALOUD by volunteers who will each read for 15 minutes, beginning at 9 A.M. The READ-A-THON will be held in the covered patio area in front of My Sister’s Books and chairs will be available for visitors to sit, listen, relax and perhaps READ! Free refreshments will be offered throughout the day. This free community event is intended to promote reading, support new local authors and encourage membership in Friends of the Waccamaw Library. The book chosen for this year’s READ-A-THON is JUSTICE COMES AFTER DEATH, a murder mystery set in Georgetown, S.C. written by local author Werner Hoppe. After a personal tragedy, Karl Shoemaker, a college professor and his faithful companion—a 120 lb. Rottweiler—roam North America for 5 years. Their travels take them to Georgetown, SC where they plan to spend just one night. But the body of a young girl found in Winyah Bay compels Shoemaker to change his mind about leaving. It is a mystery that he wants to solve. Put this fun event on your calendar today! Plan to join us and bring a friend to listen or read! For more information you may call Bess Long at My Sister’s Books, 235-9618. |

My Sister’s Books, founded in October of 2002, was opened by sisters Bess Long and Fran Clarkson when they realized that the Pawleys Island was lacking a used bookstore. Over five years after opening, Bess and Fran are still dedicated to the residents of Pawleys Island, providing them with an inviting and well-organized bookstore.
The bookstore, with a laid back atmosphere, large selection, and easy to find titles is the perfect place to come and search for books. Whether it be a book by your favorite author that you haven’t read yet, a hard to find book that isn’t in a new bookstore, or if you have come to get a book recommended by the staff, My Sister’s Books will surely provide an interesting read. My Sister’s Books stocks fiction, printed and audio, for children and adults. The majority of our store is comprised of used paperback books, which are half of the original cover price. We do stock some new paperbacks, which are the full cover price. We also have audio-books. Our books on cassette and CD are half of the original cover price in value, unless they are new in which case they are full price. The My Sister’s Books Family: My Sister’s Books operates with a staff of seven, including the two sisters. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the store and the books on the shelves. Everyone has her/his favorite genre guaranteeing that someone will help you find that perfect book you are looking for. |
